

David S. Eberly

Dave directs the activities of Beringea's investment banking practice for its Detroit, London and Shanghai offices. His responsibilities include deal origination, client management, and transaction oversight. He also provides Board of Directors-level consulting and advice to clients with regard to overall corporate financial and operational strategy.
Since helping to establish Beringea in 1988, Dave has directed much of the Firm's growth, with particular emphasis on middle-market transactions for privately-held companies and U.S./European cross-border transactions. In addition, Beringea has developed a subspecialty in the transition of troubled companies.
Dave serves on the Board of Directors of Beringea LLC and Beringea Ltd. He is a founding shareholder and was a member of the Board of Directors of European Gateway Acquisition Corp. where he coordinated much of the identification and analysis of potential targets for European Gateway's acquisition effort.
He graduated from Miami University (Ohio) with a B.S. in Finance and Management.

Malcolm K.H. Moss

Malcolm is responsible for evaluating investment opportunities, providing ongoing assistance and strategic advice to portfolio companies, and coordinating the investment exit processes at Beringea.
He has spent 18 years investing in the media, intellectual property rights and content sectors, a career highlighted by investments in the companies owning rights to Thomas the Tank Engine, Angelina Ballerina and Sooty. Malcolm sits on a number of portfolio company boards as well as the investment committees of Global Rights Fund II and InvestCare Partners.
Prior to joining Guinness Mahon Development Capital in 1989, Malcolm gained Europe-wide industrial and analytical experience in healthcare and engineering with both Baxter International and Uniroyal Inc. as Head of Planning for Europe. He then joined the financial services sector as Senior Strategist with Lloyds TSB Group, one of the UK's largest financial services groups.
Malcolm graduated with a B.A. in Business Studies in 1981 and a M.B.A. from Kingston Business School, London, in 1989.

Charles P. Rothstein

Charlie’s responsibilities at the Firm include identifying, analyzing and making investments, providing ongoing assistance and strategic advice to portfolio companies, and coordinating the investment exit process. He is and has been a board member of a number of portfolio companies and currently serves in that capacity for Miva, Inc.
In addition, he serves on Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s Council of Economic Advisors and is a board member of the Michigan Strategic Fund, the State's lead economic development and finance agency. He is also a board member of the Venture Michigan Fund, a $150 million fund-of-funds, and sits on the investment committee of Global Rights Fund II and InvestCare Partners.
Prior to establishing Beringea, Charlie was a Vice President of Corporate Finance at J.W. Korth and Company, a Michigan-based broker/dealer where he developed the Firm's public offerings, private placement and leveraged buyout activities.
Charlie graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.B.A. in 1980 and a MBA in 1982.


Anna Blacklock

Anna joined Beringea in November 2007 and is responsible for Beringea’s marketing and communications efforts in the UK.
After graduating from Nottingham Trent University with a BA Hons degree in Contemporary Arts in 1998, Anna worked in editorial research and new product development for an international publishing house before moving into financial marketing in 2004. For three years she worked for the wealth management division of a global bank, first in communications and then as marketing campaigns manager.

Camille Cedeno

Prior to joining Beringea in 2003, Camille was employed with Republic Bank Ltd., Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies.

Kelly O’Donnell

Prior to joining Beringea in 2003, Kelly worked in marketing and public relations for several arts organizations in the city of Chicago, including the Printers Row Book Fair, Center for Performing Arts at GSU, and the Chicago Film Festival.
She is a 2002 graduate of Northwestern University’s Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communications program and a 2000 graduate of Michigan State University.

Leslie A. Shipley

Leslie is responsible for daily management and administrative operations of Beringea and provides analytical services in connection with proposed and active portfolio companies.
Leslie joined the company in 1988 and has been responsible for the development and management of its corporate operations. In addition, she served as assistant to the Treasurer for European Gateway Acquisition Corp. Prior to joining the Company, Leslie was a corporate bond trader with J.W. Korth and Company, a small regional broker dealer and investment banking firm.
Leslie received a B.H.S. degree from St. Mary’s College in 1990 and an M.S.B.A. from Madonna University in 1998.

Nishal Shah

Nishal qualified as a chartered accountant with a small firm in London specialising in media and entertainment. He later moved to Bermuda to work at IAS, providing financial management services for offshore insurance companies. Nishal returned to London and joined Beringea in July 2006.
Nishal graduated with a Master’s degree in Engineering and Management from Manchester University.
Marette Thair

Marette Thair joined Beringea in 2008 as Office Coordinator. She is responsible for facilities management, client relations and the daily operations of the London office.
Prior to Beringea, Marette worked in a similar role for a post-production company which edits television advertisements and short films.

Steven Tuckley

Steven manages all Beringea financial and reporting matters and serves on the board of Beringea Ltd. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte & Touche and worked in the United Kingdom and Australia, latterly as a manager within the corporate finance department.
Prior to working at Beringea, he spent five years with Investec Asset Management in London gaining a wide range of experience in financial management and systems implementation and development.

Judith Zhu

Judith Zhu is responsible for the daily operations of Beringea's Shanghai office. Previously, she had internships in Bureau Veritas and Shanghai Jian-Jie International Trading Co.
Judith earned a bachlor's degree in Chemical Engineering/Fine Chemistry from Shanghai University of Engineering Science in 2007 and holds a certification of advanced interpretation.
She received First Prize in the National English Contest for College Students in 2006.


Christopher M. Ahn

Chris joined Beringea in 2000. His responsibilities include identification and analysis of transaction opportunities, performance of financial due diligence, and analysis and execution of North American and European transaction opportunities. Chris has considerable transaction expertise in the healthcare, consumer products and manufacturing industries.
Prior to joining Beringea, he was an Associate at de Visscher, Olson and Allen, a Greenwich, Conn.-based investment banking firm that specializes in assisting family-owned and closely held businesses. There, he supported the firm’s debt and equity fund-raising activities and was actively involved in executing divestitures, acquisitions, financings and business valuation projects. Before de Visscher, Chris interned at Edward Jones Investments, General Motors Corporation and Prudential Securities. In these positions, he developed a working knowledge of portfolio management, plant operations and financial statement analysis.
Chris graduated from Alma College with a B.A. degree in Business Administration. A Finance and Economics double major, he was awarded Alma’s Presidential Honors Scholarship for his academic achievements in each of his four years.

Jeff Bocan

Jeff Bocan is the head of the Los Angeles office and is responsible for investment sourcing, analysis, deal execution and portfolio management. He focuses on the media and entertainment sector and has expertise in content creation, internet advertising, licensing, TV production and publishing. Jeff serves as a board director for the following Beringea portfolio companies: Shout! Factory, Porchlight Entertainment, GetBack Media, Steak Media, Eagle Rock Entertainment, Imagestate and Starbridge Media.
Prior to joining Beringea, Jeff was an Associate at early- stage technology VC firm Saffron Hill Ventures in London. He has also worked in marketing roles for BMW of North America and beverage company Honest Tea. During the Clinton administration, he worked on Capitol Hill as a Lobbyist for the Sierra Club, focusing on pollution issues.
Jeff graduated with a BA in Government and Sociology from the University of Notre Dame, graduating magma cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa; and received an MBA with high honors from the University of Virginia.

Trevor Hope

Trevor Hope heads the UK investment team and is responsible for investment strategy, sourcing, analysis, deal execution and portfolio management. He sits on the boards of Beringea portfolio companies ILG Digital Ltd, Optima Data Information Services Ltd, Dianomi, SPC International Ltd and Isango Ltd.
Before joining Beringea, Trevor spent six years at 3i in the UK and the USA, where he made over 40 investments focusing on the media and technology industries. These included Paragon Software, Cambridge Industries, Southnews Plc and Mondus. Earlier in his career, Trevor worked in corporate finance for Barclays and The Royal Bank of Scotland.
Trevor is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and earned an MBA from Exeter University.

Jamie Kennell

Jamie manages Beringea’s Venture Capital Trust funds, in addition to assisting the Global Rights Fund II’s investment team.
Jamie joined Beringea from Unilever Ventures where he was responsible for investing and developing Unilever brands. Prior to this, he spent five years with 3i, where he made a wide variety of investments at all stages and across many sectors. He was also a senior member of the 3i team that acquired low cost airline Go Fly Ltd from British Airways, which was subsequently sold to Easyjet for in excess of $400m (doubling 3i's money in less than a year). Earlier in his career, Jamie worked in investment banking with Natwest Markets and corporate finance with KPMG.
Jamie graduated with a 2(1) in Economics and Geography from the University of Staffordshire in 1990 and has an MBA from Cardiff Business School, majoring in Corporate Finance and Capital Markets in 1991.

Karen McCormick

Karen’s experience comes from a variety of consulting and corporate positions, specifically in the consumer products and financial services sectors. As a consultant with The Boston Consulting Group and Kurt Salmon Associates, her project work focused on developing growth strategies and hands-on implementation. While Director of Watches for Wenger/Swiss Army, she increased divisional revenues by over 70% and margins by 15% within one year. She has also worked with several start-up and small growth companies, including the co-founding of a luxury products retail and lifestyle website in the Middle East.
Karen has lived and worked in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, and has an MBA from INSEAD and a BSBA from Boston University.

Stuart Veale

Stuart Veale heads the London office of Beringea and sits on the investment committees of several of the firm's funds. In that capacity, he takes a lead role in investment sourcing, evaluation and execution activities. He also supports investments as a board member for a number of portfolio companies including Espresso Group Limited.
He started his venture capital career 20 years ago at 3i, the UK’s largest venture capital firm and alma mater of many of the UK’s leading VC community members. Prior to his arrival at Beringea, Stuart was a director of Lloyds TSB Development Capital, where he was Senior Director and Head of the Thames Valley office.
Stuart graduated with a degree in Engineering Science from Oxford University and an MBA from the London Business School.


Michael Gross, CFA

Michael is a director of investment banking, based in Beringea's Detroit office. Michael brings a broad range of transaction and valuation experience, including buy- and sell-side M&A advisory, capital raises, fairness opinions, and due diligence services. He specializes in serving clients within the healthcare and life sciences sectors, including medical devices, diagnostics, contract research organizations, hospitals and physician practices. Michael has authored numerous articles and research papers and frequently speaks to healthcare and manufacturing audiences on a variety of business topics.
Prior to joining Beringea, Michael was a vice president at P&M Corporate Finance (PMCF), a middle-market investment bank. While at PMCF, Michael led M&A transactions and capital raises for companies in the healthcare and life sciences sectors, among others. Before working at PMCF, Michael worked in the investment banking group at Stout Risius Ross, Inc.
Michael is a CFA charterholder and earned a BA in finance from Michigan State University.

Kevin Heckman

Kevin Heckman joined Beringea in 2003. His responsibilities include identification and analysis of transaction opportunities, performance of financial due diligence, and analysis and execution of North American and European transaction opportunities.
Kevin joined Beringea from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was a Manager of Transaction Services. His experience ranged from serving single-location private companies to large publicly held Fortune 500 corporations with multinational operations. Kevin's geographic deal experience centers on North America, Asia and Europe.
Kevin is a registered Certified Public Accountant in the state of Michigan and holds an economics degree from the University of Michigan.

David M. Ruby, CFA

David Ruby joined Beringea in 2007 as an Associate on the Investment Banking team. His responsibilities include industry research and analysis, company valuation and marketing, and transaction due diligence. Prior to joining Beringea, David was an analyst with P&M Corporate Finance (PMCF), a middle-market investment bank in Chicago. While at PMCF, David executed M&A transactions for companies in the business services and life sciences industries. Before working at PMCF, David worked as an associate portfolio manager with for a global asset management firm in Chicago.
David graduated from Western Michigan University with a BBA in finance and economics. He is also a CFA charterholder and a NASD-licensed representative holding the Series 7 and Series 63.

J. David Whittingham

David directs investment banking activities out of Beringea’s Shanghai office, including the sourcing and execution of North American-Chinese transaction opportunities. Prior to joining Beringea, David worked in Shanghai as a private consultant advising clients from a range of industries, including automotive, logistics, manufacturing and electronics. In Hong Kong, he worked for the American financial house Cantor Fitzgerald on their equity derivatives desk, focusing on the markets in Korea, Japan, India and Hong Kong, while advising their investment banking group.
Before that, he was the Assistant to the CEO of the Hong Kong-listed company Computime International, Ltd. At Computime, David was responsible for advising and overseeing three manufacturing operations in Southern China as well as several joint-venture and M&A opportunities in Asia and North America.
David has lived in Asia for 14 years and speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and Spanish. He graduated from Georgetown University with a double major in Political Economy and Chinese.
