Charles “Charlie” Rothstein is founder and senior managing director of Beringea, a non-controlling growth capital investment firm with offices in Detroit, London and Manchester (UK). He is responsible for all Firm activities and directly oversees Beringea’s U.S.-based Funds, which invest in exceptional high growth, high potential businesses in Michigan and the Midwest. Since the Firm’s founding, Charlie has served on numerous portfolio company boards and is currently a director at Floyd, Blis, UICO, All In One Medical, and Detroit Institute of Music Education.
Charlie is a champion for entrepreneurial activity and economic growth in the American Midwest. He has provided expert testimony to the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship and has been honored by multiple organizations for his contributions to the Michigan economy, including recognition as a Crain’s Detroit Business“40 Under 40” award winner and as a member of “The Detroit 500”, DBusiness magazine’s comprehensive list of the most powerful executives across Metro Detroit.
He is civic-minded, providing hands-on, ethical leadership and a constructive approach to the organizations he supports. He serves as a director of S.A.Y. Detroit, a nonprofit that improves the lives of Detroit’s neediest citizens through shelter, food, medical care, volunteer efforts and education. He has also chaired philanthropic events for Children’s Hospital of Detroit and the University of Michigan, among others.
Charlie graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.B.A. and an MBA. A lifelong Metro Detroit resident, Charlie and his wife Diana enjoy travelling to visit their four adult children in New York and London. He’s an avid four-seasons runner and accomplished golf and tennis player, part of his meaningful commitment to health and wellness.
