Big Data Partnership acquired by Teradata
August 1st 2016
Big Data Partnership, a leading services provider of big data solutions and training has been acquired by U.S. based data analytics company Teradata in one of the first transatlantic deals post-Brexit
(London, UK) Big Data Partnership was founded in 2012 by Mike Merritt-Holmes, Pinal Gandhi and Tim Seears to help organisations unlock the value in complex data. Beringea first invested in 2014 and again in May 2015.
Maria Wagner, Investment Director at Beringea commented: “I’m delighted that Beringea has been involved in the growth of Big Data Partnership, leading them through two funding rounds. A particular highlight has been working with the team, they’ve tripled in size over the past two years! The three founders, Mike, Pinal and Tim have built an impressive business from scratch that now helps big organisations tackle big problems using data science. Big Data Partnership are now very much leaders in doing so for the EMEA market. Their acquisition is set to propel them internationally, meaning a wider range of clients they can help to foster a data-driven approach. As one of the first transatlantic deals post Brexit, I hope this will inspire confidence in British start-ups that the global market is still open to them. Although she has only been in the role a short time, Carmen has proven to be an exceptional CEO – especially in defining business strategy, including the focus on productizing services such as the company’s Data Capability Framework, to help companies to invest in the most suitable big data programme that delivers the business value they need.”
Carmen Carey, Chief Executive Officer at Big Data Partnership commented: “This agreement with Teradata is a strong endorsement of the Big Data Partnership team. The two organisations are well aligned, and our joining of forces will ensure a global capacity to support data-driven business transformation initiatives. I look forward to seeing the new joint entity shaping and driving the global big data market.
The support received from Beringea has been absolutely pivotal to our success. They have enabled Big Data Partnership to grow our team in the heart of London’s Tech City and meet the increasing demands of new enterprise clients to quickly become the EMEA market leaders. The team at Beringea fully understand the importance of staying ahead of the game; dealing with tomorrow’s challenges today and it has been a pleasure to work with them.”
