Bill supports the investment team in identifying and analyzing potential investments, financial modeling, industry research, working with and monitoring portfolio companies, deal execution and negotiation, and fundraising. He serves as a board director for Beringea portfolio companies Avid Ratings, Fiber By-Products, and Montage Talent and is a board observer for All In One Medical and Freeosk.
Prior to joining Beringea, Bill served as an investment banking associate at P&M Corporate Finance in Southfield, Mich., where he supported the management of middle market sell-side and buy-side transactions, advising clients on divestitures, acquisitions, and refinancings.
He is a graduate of the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
John supports the investment team in identifying and analyzing potential investments, financial modeling, industry research, working with and monitoring portfolio companies, deal execution and negotiation, and fundraising. He serves as a board director for Beringea portfolio companies Popular Pays and Detroit Institute of Music Education, and as a board observer for Parkwhiz.
Prior to joining Beringea, John served as an investment banking analyst at P&M Corporate Finance in Southfield, Michigan, serving the firm’s private, corporate, and private equity clients. As part of the Business & Technology Services team, he focused on mergers and acquisitions for leading industry retailers and service providers both domestically and abroad.
He received a B.A. in finance from Michigan State University.
Rob is responsible for sourcing and analysing new deals, due diligence on potential investments and monitoring portfolio companies.
Prior to Beringea, Rob worked as a senior consultant in Deloitte's strategy practice, focusing primarily on projects for technology and media organisations.
Rob holds a BSc in Management from London School of Economics.
Phil is responsible for sourcing and analysing new deals, due diligence on potential investments and monitoring portfolio companies.
He previously worked as an Associate Consultant at OC&C Strategy Consultants on projects spanning a wide range of sectors, for both corporate and private equity clients. He also has experience working at the Bank of England and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Phil studied at Cambridge University, where he earned a BA in Economics and Management Studies.
Michael is responsible for investment sourcing, deal execution and portfolio management, with a focus on healthcare, technology enabled services, and sustainability. Michael serves as a board director for Beringea portfolio companies MI Bioresearch, Delphinus Medical Technologies, InTouch Health, Intervention Insights, Xanitos, Freeosk, and Fiber By-Products, and is a board observer for Sharecare and Popular Pays. Previous portfolio companies include Ranir (sold to Origami Capital Partners), Pioneer Surgical Technologies (acquired by RTI Biologics), Relume Technologies (acquired by Revolution Lighting), and EcoSynthetix (TSX: ECO). Michael is also a board observer of the Michigan Venture Capital Association.
Prior to joining Beringea, Michael was a vice president of investment banking with P&M Corporate Finance (PMCF). While at PMCF, Michael led M&A transactions and capital raises for companies in the life sciences, health care and outsourced business services sectors. Before working at PMCF, Michael worked in the investment banking group at Stout Risius Ross, Inc.
Michael is a CFA charterholder and earned a B.A. in Finance from Michigan State University.
CLOSEEyal is responsible for sourcing investments, executing deals and monitoring portfolio companies. He currently sits on the boards of Perfect Channel, Poq, Simplestream, TV Player and Network Locum. Prior to joining Beringea, Eyal was director of Corporate Development at Countrywide PLC where he oversaw investments in the Property Technology sector and helped set up Countrywide's analytics division and asset management operations. Prior to this, he was Vice President with Oaktree Capital’s European private equity fund and a consultant with McKinsey & Company. Eyal began his career as a software engineer developing advanced telecommunication solutions. Eyal has an MBA from Harvard Business School and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Interdisciplinary Centre Herzliya.
Karen is Chief Investment Officer at Beringea, responsible for making new investments and working with portfolio companies through to exit. Her investments include Watchfinder, Thread, Blis, Monica Vinader, and MatsSoft amongst others.
Karen was previously with the Boston Consulting Group and ran the Watch division of Swiss Army/Wenger. She also has experience with start-ups as both a founder and advisor. Karen has lived and worked in the US, Europe, and Asia, and has an MBA from INSEAD and a BSBA from Boston University.
Malcolm is a Founding Partner of Beringea. Over the last 20 years he has been responsible for the growth, development and management of the private equity business of Beringea in both the UK and the USA. In addition to sitting on the boards of ProVen VCT plc, ProVen Growth & Income VCT plc and ProVen Planned Exit VCT plc, he sits on the investment committees of Beringea’s four other venture capital funds and as a non-executive director on several portfolio company boards.
Prior to founding Beringea, Malcolm gained Europe-wide industrial, planning and analytical experience in healthcare, engineering and financial services with Baxter International, Uniroyal Inc. and Lloyds TSB Group.
Malcolm has a MBA from Kingston Business School and a degree in Business Studies.
CLOSECharlie Rothstein is founder and senior managing director of Beringea, a growth equity investment firm with offices in London and Detroit. He is directly responsible for all the Firm’s activities. In addition, he oversees Beringea’s U.S.-based funds, which provide growth capital and/or mezzanine financing to exceptional high growth, high potential businesses. These activities include identifying, analyzing, making and exiting investments, as well as providing ongoing direction and strategic advice to portfolio companies. Since the Firm’s founding, Charlie has served on numerous portfolio company boards, and is currently a director at Blis, ELOQUII, UICO, All In One Medical, Detroit Institute of Music Education, and is a board observer for Floyd. He also serves on the board of directors of S.A.Y. Detroit, a nonprofit that improves the lives of Detroit’s neediest citizens through shelter, food, medical care, volunteer efforts and education. Charlie graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.B.A. and an MBA.
Mark heads up Beringea Growth Finance, which provides debt-based finance to fast growing companies. Mark has extensive experience working within the finance sector of which the last 15 years have been in Venture and Growth Finance.
Mark was a pioneer of Venture and Growth Finance in Europe having been a founder partner of EVP (now Kreos) in 1998. He went on to found and manage Noble Venture Finance from 2003-10. Prior to joining Beringea in 2013 Mark was instrumental in creating Clydesdale Growth Finance.
Mark is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has a degree from the University of Reading.
As Managing Partner, Stuart heads a team of partners and staff in the UK office and sits on the investment committees of all the firm’s UK funds. Stuart has over 25 years’ experience working within the venture capital industry. He is a non-executive director for Coal, Contact Engine, Chess Dynamics, InSkin Media, ResponseTap, Third Bridge and Firefly Learning.
Prior to joining Beringea, Stuart worked at 3i plc and was a Senior Director at Lloyds Development Capital, where he headed the Thames Valley office. Stuart holds an MBA from London Business School and a degree in Engineering Science from Oxford University.
Maria is responsible for sourcing investments, executing deals and monitoring portfolio companies. She currently sits on the boards of My 1st Years and MYCS. Maria previously served on the boards of MyOptique, Big Data Partnership, Monica Vinader, Honeycomb.tv, Switch My Business and Skills Matter.
Maria was previously Managing Director of Birchbox UK, a beauty ecommerce and subscription business. Prior to this, she was on the investment teams at Virgin Group and GMT Partners, where she made investments and monitored portfolio companies, mainly in the digital and media sectors. Maria began her career as an analyst at Goldman Sachs and an Engagement Manager at McKinsey in New York.
Maria has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from MIT.
